On our last date night over a great glass of wine my girlfriend and I were discussing an activity she did at a conference.
The presenter had everyone write down who their mentors were in the different domains of their lives.
It’s a powerful exercise.
We all have people we look up to and learn from but have you taken the time to intentionally choose a mentor in each domain of your life?
Some of these mentors will be friends and close acquaintances. Others might be bosses or community members. Still others might be historical figures you’ve never met.
Very few of these will be a formal mentor/mentee relationship. They are people you gain wisdom from by in a variety of ways from simply interacting together, reading about, or going through their training material.
One of mine is Michael Hyatt.
I’ve been following Michael’s blog since I was a sophomore in college. I’ve taken every course he’s created, and have met him in person a few different times.
I follow him for the way he runs his business, has built his platform, and especially for how productive he is in the most positive sense of the word.
Last year I had the opportunity to be a part of a beta group for his course Free to Focus and got the chance to spend a day with him and some of his team.
I learned a lot during that day (Join me on my live stream today to hear more about the lessons I’ve learned)
Who are your mentors?
Comment and let me know one of yours.
